Normally, I try to avoid Kumarisu lyrics like the plague, but this one has relatively straightforward grammar, until the disjointed と after 刃. Not to mention, the vocals and arrangement are breathtaking.
I have to say this translation is incomplete though, due to me being unqualified to translate Latin. Google translate picks up the first line, but I’m not sure how to make it work with the Japanese without guessing, and it doesn’t even translate the one with “ingels,” so I’m kinda stuck unless someone can help. It’d be nice to keep it as it is, since not even Japanese people would be expected to understand it, but that’d just be lazy.
Kafka had the great idea that Google translate from Latin to Japanese would work, however, since it’s probably what Kumarisu used. That turns the first line into 非常に満足して書かれました and the second.. still doesn’t work out too good, but it’s something about the glorious excalibur. Then LATEa* from JxL subtiltes sent me this page to use as a reference, which helped with ingels, laetus, and mira. Now, I still don’t know Latin grammar, so this is still just a guess to how the sentence structure goes.
Notes: On the topic of disjointed とs, I chose “that” here. The simplest way to deal with them is usually to just wrap quotation marks around the text, but there’s no hints of speaking at all here. If there was another person here, sure, maybe, but the speaker appears to be all alone. She wouldn’t speak to herself, would she? While just “that” alone sounds a bit strange, I think it’s the most flexible usage as well. For example, 「～と気付いた」 would normally be translated as “realized that~.” Quotation marks aren’t all too natural with the verb “to realize,” and the missing verb here could be anything. I’m probably talking too much at this point, and overthinking things, but eh. At least we can discount the possibility of it being “if/when” this time.
Today I learned that disjointed とs can also precede imaginary ともにs.
