断罪の天秤 | Scales of Judgement

Requested by Psych, add this to my list of my worst translations ever.

Notes: When there’s English in a song, I tend to want to keep it in the same position as it is in the original lyrics, no matter the cost. As well, some of this simply makes no sense. I’m looking at you, fudge.

Came in to an unexpected shift in subject here. As usual, with Japanese songs, personal pronouns are generally not important in lyrics, which is why I tend to keep things as vague as I possibly can. Usually, unless it is clear otherwise, you assume the speaker is talking about herself. Here, we find something halfway through the song: “This body” (interpreted as “my body”), and “the girl,” which suddenly seems to shift everything said in previous stanzas as being about the girl instead. To give an idea of this on a small scale, imagine the sentence “Went to the store, had no money, came back, asked me for change, then he went back.” Go through a couple stanzas like that without any pronouns and you’d think that it was someone speaking about themselves until the sudden change.

Haruka will always be the master of emo lyrics and nobody can tell me otherwise, they’re a guilty pleasure of mine. Kafka probably already has this song translated, like with 99% of Alst songs, but I decided to give this a go just because of the Amateras x Alstroemeria remix album.
