I translated this for two reasons. For one, it’s a good song that I’ve always liked. Secondly, I felt like I could relate to the lyrics.

It all began as the school year began. I remember listening to the Alst song “Romantic Fall” from “of memories” and watching the rain of red, orange, and yellow leaves fall around me. Taking in all the lyrics, I wished to have my own romantic fall and be able to relate to the song on a deeper level. I never expected anything to happen, but something did.

There was a girl I had frequently played games with for a year or longer before this point. Her and I began talking more. We became closer friends, and started to really care for each other. She lived a little over a megameter away, but, despite both knowing the difficulties of long distance, that didn’t stop us from giving into our feelings and falling for each other. I didn’t want to at first. I knew it would be painful. But she was the first girl I really liked in several (seven) years. I couldn’t let someone so special pass by.

For months, we enjoyed our time together online and I dreamed of the day I’d get to see her. That day eventually came. My dream had come true. She was with me for a week, and it was the best week of my life, but I doubt she felt close to the same way. You see, I’ve also become able to relate to the song “kiss me” from the same album as this song, as I wished she would forget about and move on from the other people she’s been with. Sadly, things ended up not working out. As much as we enjoyed being with each other, I don’t think she intended for things to work out in the first place, which is why I had to let go.

It’s a little more complicated than that, but following from this, I now also relate to Alst’s song “μοναξιά”, but that was a song I never wanted to be able to relate to.
