My 300th post on this site, nice.
This song was somehow a big pain to put into English though. I needed to have my unofficial editor come in and help make tons of changes before it started to sound alright.

善意のマモノ | The Benevolent Evil Entity

Requested by Dasty Enoch. As Releska once said, translating RD lyrics feels like some sort of great responsibility. I have to wonder if I was perhaps too slack when working on this.

If there’s one painful part of translating, it’s trying to fit words like ようかい and あやかし into English. Translators of old, such as Lafcadio Hearn, took the cheap way out by calling everything goblins. Examples include calling kitsune “goblin-foxes” and tanuki “goblin-badgers.”

More Sound Holic! This is a really solid album. I’m enjoying it a lot more than the last.
With all the < text like this > and English, this song didn’t make out for as smooth a translation as others, since I can’t shuffle things around as easily, resulting in butchered sentence structure. The worst of it is in the last three lines of the first stanza, but eh, what can you do?
