Been doing more RD than usual lately, but it’s the winter break for me, so what can you say.
As one of my more favourite tracks from the album, I’ve been waiting a while to do this one, but I felt it would be more fitting coming after Brave Girl.

As with all the other songs from this album, this song takes place right before the events of its counterpart game (This time, Mountain of Faith, just as Sanae entered Gensokyo). The perspective suddenly makes a change on the stanzas beginning with “brave girl,” but I think this may be the most elegant speaker switch I’ve seen in song. It just works.

“once you’ve lost, the real you begins,”
think the two shadows watching over you, so that you can smile someday.

What started as a bit of an experimental translation, I have faith turned out well in the end.

I have reason to believe this is not from Yamada’s point of view, and I’m here to tell you why, as well as go a little in depth into the lyrics.

First, take a look at the characters featured in the booklet art. Notice the Prismrivers, Komachi, Reimu, and Yuuka.

In stanzas 3 and 4, we can inference that the lines refer to the Prismrivers. Not only do they mention “a mysterious and joyous sound” (music), but the Prismrivers were also orphaned as they were alive.

As for stanzas 10 and 11, I believe this refers to Komachi. All I really have to make that connection with is the hair comment and the fact that she’s in the picture though.

Lastly, stanzas 18 and 19, has to be Reimu. Especially since she exterminates youkai and all, and with the “at least if the end is you” line. This also leads me to have few doubts that this is all coming Yuuka’s perspective. There has also been another song with flower symbolism just like this before with her theme being arranged.
